Power for your data centre, without waiting for the grid
Grid connection is now the longest lead item in most data centre builds. The 2G Power Island takes it off the critical path. It is a containerised gas engine power plant, factory-tested and pre-commissioned, that can be generating onsite within 9 to 12 months.
Capacity is modular, from 2 MW to 400+ MW. Units install in parallel and are added as load grows, without redesign or downtime, so generation scales with each stage of the build instead of being sized for a load that arrives years later. N+1 and N+N redundancy configurations deliver 99.9+% availability for mission-critical loads.
The plant runs off-grid, grid-parallel or hybrid, and switches modes as site conditions and grid access change. It integrates with UPS and battery storage for fast load response and ride-through, and the engines run on natural gas today with biomethane and hydrogen compatibility built in.

How data centre operators use onsite generation
The same modular plant does different jobs depending on the site and the stage of development.
- Fast onsite power: operate at full capacity while grid infrastructure catches up, with no compromise on uptime.
- Primary or backup generation: run as the site's main power source or as high-availability backup, integrated with UPS and battery storage.
- Trigeneration for low PUE: absorption chillers turn engine waste heat into cooling, lifting whole-facility efficiency to up to 95%.
- Behind-the-meter operation: cut demand charges and reduce exposure to grid tariff volatility.
- Flexible commercial structures: capital purchase, lease, PPA and BOOT models, with long-term service agreements including remote monitoring and guaranteed availability.
