Meat processing runs on energy at every step: steam and hot water for rendering and sterilisation, constant refrigeration, and electricity across the site. It also produces organic waste every day, and managing that waste is a cost of its own.
Biogas connects the two problems and solves them together. Wastewater and processing by-products break down in a digester to produce gas, and a biogas engine turns that gas into electricity and heat for the plant. Waste the site was paying to treat becomes the fuel that runs it.
